The Rubyz
The Rubyz’s third album Reflection has a simple message: you don’t need to be the most popular or have the coolest stuff, as long as you know what’s really important and that God is in your life. This is seen throughout the album in a Spice Girls-meet-Katy Perry kind of way, combining the sounds of the past with a modern expression.
In the second song, “Fall With You,” The Rubyz say “Don’t be afraid to fly, reaching up for something new, don’t be afraid to fly, ‘cause if you fall, I will fall with you,” meaning don’t be afraid to try something new just because you think you might fail because God will be there whether you soar or fall.
My personal favorite song on the album is “Whatcha Seein’.” Not only is the beat lively and electric, but I feel like I can really connect to the lyrics: “You know you don't have to be like everyone you see.” The message of the song is that you don’t have to have the “cool” stuff like “Their phones, their bags, their cars, their talk, their hate.” All you need is your faith.
